The Lockheed Electra (L-188) at Cologne/Bonn

Since the middle of the eighties the Lockheed L-188 Electra had been a daily visitor at Cologne/Bonn Airport for nearly two decades. The aircraft was operating during nighttime fort the big integrators UPS, DHL and TNT. The following carriers visited Cologne/Bonn Airport regularly with their Electra aircraft: Fred Olsen, Air Bridge / Hunting Cargo, Channel Express, Amerer Air and Atlantic Airlines.

The Electras are replaced now at Cologne by more modern jets, mainly Boeing 737-300 and Boeing 757. In November 2003 the Electra was replaced on ist last regular connection between Cologne and Nuremberg on behalf of DHL by a DHL Boeing 757.

Now Lockheed Electra aircraft are visiting Cologne just a few times each year on cargo charters.
